This program manages the safety and regulatory compliance of high hazard lasers on campus.  The requirements and guidelines provided in ANSI Standard Z136.1 for the Safety Use of Lasers are followed and have been incorporated into the Cornell Laser Safety Manual (see link below).  High hazard lasers are those in Class 3b and Class 4 while low hazard lasers are those in Class 1, 2, or 3a.  New high hazard laser labs, or those undergoing renovation, must implement the requirements of the Cornell Laser Safety Manual and are strongly recommended to contact EH&S for assistance.
