1. Call for help
Scream or yell for help to get assistance from your co-worker or by other staff member near by you.
2. Call 911 and 315-787-2499
Try to call 911 and 315-787-2499 simultaneously by one person calling the 911 and the other person calling the 787-2499 with the following information:
Note: Stay on the phone to answer all the questions from the dispatcher
3. If you are alone with a downed person call 911 first than call 315-787-2499 for assistance as soon as possible.
Note: Response time is very critical; therefore, after giving critical information to 911, call 315-787-2499 immediately.
Automatic External Defibrillator Activation Sequence
Upon receiving a medical emergency call, the Station dispatcher will announce "MEDICAL EMERGENCY WITH BUILDING AND ROOM NUMBER/FIELD AND LOCATION" on the radio three consecutive times.
A person who is closest to the AED located in Pesticide Storage Building will transport the unit to location of emergency. Upon arriving to picking up the unit, he/she will announce their name three times on the air with message "DELIVERING THE UNIT".
AED qualified person will report directly to the emergency location.
First qualified AED user at the scene will be the team leader
First three qualified AED users will serve as a primary team
Rest of qualified AED users will assist the primary team and direct the Finger Lakes Ambulance personnel to emergency location
Field Research Personnel will be waiting by each entrance to the Station farm/field to direct the Ambulance to the location of emergency.
Qualified AED user will rapidly assess the patient for indication of cardiac arrest and solicit additional information from witnesses.
The user will perform appropriate medical interventions to level of individual certification.
The team leader will provide an update of patient location and condition to Finger Lakes Ambulance.
The team leader will brief other responders from the emergency medical system and facilitates a smooth transfer of care to Finger Lakes Ambulance.
